Pikes Peak PRSA Chapter March Luncheon

Glass half full: Influencing behavior change during drought

In 2013, Colorado Springs Utilities implemented water restrictions to rebuild historically-low water supply and protect public safety and health. A communications program, a 2014 PRSA Silver Anvil winner, was designed to inform customers of restrictions and educate them on water’s role in our collective quality of life. Our March presenters will share how strategic communications (with an emphasis on the four-step PR planning process, collaboration, creativity and emerging media) influences behavior, impacts customer satisfaction and contributes to the achievement of operational goals.

      Presenters include:

Mark Murphy, APR, serves as manager of Customer and Workforce Communications for Colorado Springs Utilities. He is responsible for leading external and internal strategic communications to help meet operational goals and increase customer engagement and satisfaction. He has been with the municipal utility provider 18 years.

Natalie Eckhart, APR, has served as a senior communications specialist with Colorado Springs Utilities for more than 15 years. She has led multiple successful strategic campaigns promoting the safe and efficient use of utilities services. Her expertise includes branding, strategic planning, research and paid media.

Eric Isaacson has nearly 20 years of communications experience and has been with Colorado Springs Utilities for 14 years. His focus is on electronic and digital, leading website and social media efforts.

Patrice Lehermeier, APR, is a senior communications specialist with Colorado Springs Utilities and is responsible for developing strategic communications programs, with a focus on operations and crisis response. Her background includes publications, media relations, internal and executive communications, and public information management.
