"Membership is a requirement if you are going to succeed."
PRSA has been an important part of my professional life since I first joined in June 1971. I felt then – as I do now – that membership in a professional society is a requirement if you are going to succeed in this business. Membership during the past 40 years has provided me excellent professional development opportunities, the chance to demonstrate my professional knowledge and skill through accreditation, and the opportunity to serve my profession through leadership positions at the chapter and national board levels.
When I retired from the Air Force in 1992, I networked with other PRSA members while looking for follow-on employment. And I landed a PR management job in Albuquerque, in part, because of my PRSA membership and status as an accredited member of the Society.
