2014 Silver Anvil Award Winner — Integrated Communications — Government
Campaigns include any program that demonstrates leadership of public relations strategies and tactics in a creative and effective integrated campaign, along with other marketing or communications. The program must demonstrate the clear leadership of public relations, along with its integration with other disciplines.
To address a water shortage, the Colorado Springs City Council implemented in 2013 mandatory water restrictions and water rate surcharges. Colorado Springs Utilities created and executed an integrated public relations program to educate water customers and influence water use behavior. As a result, the community water-savings goal was achieved one month earlier than forecasted and customer satisfaction increased from 58 percent to 76 percent.

Summary
2006 Silver Anvil Award Winner – Crisis Communications – Government
United States Northern Command Public Affairs (PA) coordinated the active-duty public affairs efforts for the largest military deployment and humanitarian mission in the United States since the Civil War. They entered an environment where public opinion and media coverage was already negative toward the initial failed federal response. But through an unprecedented public affairs public affairs effort during military rescue and relief operations in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina enabled local, regional, national and international journalists to capture the active-duty military’s disaster response efforts. This PA effort brought order to the area and restored public confidence in the recovery efforts.
